Summary
The Inside Account Manager will be responsible for selling the Company’s products and services in the assigned sales territory in the Western U.S.  Assigned territory is great CA select (greater L.A. area to Salinas, academic accounts in the San Francisco Bay Area), NV, UT, CO, AZ, NM, TX & OK.

Essential Functions
  • Sell DiscoverX products and services to prospects and customers.
  • Achieve revenue growth targets
  • Routinely prospect within the assigned sales territory to establish a qualified customer database.
  • Forecast business and provide status reports for the territory as directed.
  • Promote DiscoverX products and services through calls, lead follow up and travel as required.
  • Travel to companies in assigned territory as required (10-15%).
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales Manager, and VP Business Development to provide technically sound and detailed presentations of DiscoverX products and services via the web or in person if appropriate.
  • Manage other DiscoverX resources to provide optimal pre-sales information and product evaluations.
  • Provide post-sales support as needed for proper utilization of products.
  • Maintain excellent rapport with current customers to ensure their satisfaction for future business relationships with DiscoverX.
  • Provide quotations and correspondence that adhere to company guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as agreed to and at management’s direction.

Required Education/Experience/Competencies
  • B.S. or B.A. in a Science degree.
  • One to five years of proven inside sales experience or lab experience in drug discovery.
  • Self-starter who is a result- and success-oriented individual with the proven ability to develop and follow through on sales tasks and plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • One to five years of proven sales or drug discovery history
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce.com)

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
Office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel
Travel to accounts agreed upon with Sales Manager approximately every 6 weeks (10-15%).

Summary
DiscoverX is currently searching for a technically astute drug discovery professional to grow our business across the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine region at key drug discovery companies, CRO’s, academic and government agencies.

This position is responsible for managing key accounts in the assigned region, finding solutions to support customer needs and expanding our reach into new markets with new products and applications. The Account Manager is responsible for achieving territory budget targets for the entire DiscoverX portfolio including Consumable Products, Lead Hunter Services, BioMap, and Custom Assay Development (CAD) services. This position is responsible for providing field level technical support and expertise to new and existing DiscoverX customers in academia, basic research, and industrial key accounts.  This position must design, implement, and execute short and long-term key account strategies that will result in territory growth. Being goal-oriented, proactive, organized, combined with a solid understanding of the science and applications related to the Drug Discovery Product and service portfolios is essential for success.

Essential Functions
  • Execute assigned product and service line specific revenue goals aligned with business unit and corporate goals.
  • Develop a key account business plan for the DiscoverX portfolio and manage the successful implementation, communication and execution of such within assigned geographical territory.
  • Develop and submit accurate forecasts every 2 weeks, and a key account level quarterly report detailing progress in achieving business plan goals.
  • Develop and grow Service, Product and CAD sales in the assigned territory based on set targets.
  • Interact at a strategic level with Product Managers, Business Unit Leaders and R&D staff on key business issues to address customer and market needs.
  • Work with Marketing and Customer Service to support the syndication of the catalog and price list in key accounts.
  • Visits customers regularly to promote strategic relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in: Biology, Biochemistry or Life Sciences.
  • Minimum 3 years commercial or applications experience in a customer facing role.
  • Advanced experience in cell based assays, assay development, and/or other life science applications with particular emphasis in Drug Discovery and biopharmaceutical sciences.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Proven track record of successful capture of increasing business from key accounts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value accounts.
  • A strong team player with proven ability to coordinate activities and influence actions across a team of resources.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry).
  • Strong working knowledge of the Drug Discovery Pipeline.
  • Broad AND deep network of key decision makers within assigned territory.
