Cycloheximide is a bacterial molecule that inhibits protein biosynthesis in eukaryotes by blocking tRNA binding and release from ribosomes, inducing apoptosis. Commonly used in in vitro studies to halt protein synthesis, but has severe toxic effects in vivo, including DNA damage, teratogenesis, and reproductive defects. Also used as a fungicide in agriculture. Inhibitor of the PPIase hFKBP12 (Ki=3.4uM). Provided as 10 mg of dry powder.
