Background Information: | DCAMKL3 (Doublecortin and CaM Kinase-Like 3), also known as microtubule affinity-regulating kinase 3 (MARK3), is a serine/threonine protein kinase that belongs to the CAMK (calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase) family of kinases. It is involved in a variety of cellular processes, including regulation of microtubule dynamics, cell polarity, and cell migration.
Research has suggested that DCAMKL3 plays a role in several diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer's disease. In cancer, DCAMKL3 has been shown to promote tumor growth and metastasis, and inhibition of DCAMKL3 has been suggested as a potential cancer therapy. In Alzheimer's disease, DCAMKL3 has been implicated in the regulation of tau phosphorylation and aggregation, and alterations in DCAMKL3 expression have been observed in the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients. |
