Background Information: | FTY 720 phosphate, or Fingolimod, is a sphingosine analog and immunomodulating drug currently approved for multiple sclerosis treatment. It is derived from the fungal metabolite myriocin (ISP-1), and acts as a potent modulator for sphingosine-1 phosphate receptors, encouraging recruitment of lymphocytes into the CNS during an immune response. Acts as an agonist for S1P1 receptors S1PR1 (EDG1) and S1PR5 (EDG8) selectively, with no activity at S1PR2-4. Provided as 1 mg of dry powder. |
