Background Information: | Glucagon is a peptide hormone secreted by the pancreas to increase blood glucose in response to low glucose levels in the blood. Works in opposition to insulin. May be used medically to combat hypoglycemia, beta blocker overdose, anaphylaxis, and with impacted food bolus to relax the lower esophageal sphincter. Acts as an agonist for GCGR. Provided as 1 mg of dry powder. |
