Background Information: | The mammalian Abelson (Abl) family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases is comprised of c-Abl (ABL1) and Arg (Abl-related gene, ABL2), which are encoded by the Abl1 and Abl2 genes, respectively. Deregulation of the c-Abl and Arg tyrosine kinases can occur as a result of chromosomal translocation events that produce chimeric proteins associated with the development of human leukemias as well as gastric cancer invasion and progression. |
