Background Information: | Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP-4) is a growth factor protein that is part of the TGFβ superfamily. Responsible for the onset of endochondral bone formation, as well as mesenchyme formation. Also involved in development of many organs (limbs, teeth, muscles, etc.) and repair of damaged tissues. Has roles in neurogenesis in adults, maintaining neural stem cell pools. Dysregulation has been associated with a variety of bone diseases. Thought to homodimerize or heterodimerize with BMP-2 and act as an agonist on BMPR1A and/or BMPR1B. Provided as 5 μg of dry powder alongside reconstitution buffer. |
