| Background Information: | Human growth hormone (HGH, GH, somatotropin) is a 191-amino acid peptide pituitary hormone that stimulates growth, cell reproduction, and regeneration. An agonist for GHR, it also regulates body composition, fluids, and sugar and fat metabolism. It is a stress hormone that increases glucose and fatty acid levels and stimulates the production of IGF-1. Can be used medically to treat growth disorders and GH deficiency.
