Background Information: | Somatostatin 28 is an active fragment of somatostatin, an inhibitory peptide hormone produced in the hypothalamus that interacts with G protein-coupled somatostatin receptors to regulate the endocrine system, neurotransmission, and cell proliferation. Acts as an agonist on SSTR1-5 to inhibit release of insulin, glucagon, and numerous secondary hormones as well as regulate voltage-dependent calcium channels. Somatostatin 28 may also inhibit secretion of peptide YY. Provided as 0.5 mg of dry powder alongside reconstitution buffer. |
