Background Information: | WKYMVm-NH2 is a synthetic hexapeptide that exhibits anti-inflammatory and immunostimulatory activities. WKYMVm-NH2 activates formyl peptide receptor-like 1 (FPRL1) receptors, increasing Ca2+ influx. WKYMVm-NH2 also increases bactericidal activity of neutrophils and phagocytic activity of dendritic cells, especially in subjects with cancer. In addition, WKYMVm-NH2 induces calcium mobilization, superoxide production, and chemotaxic migration in monocytes and neutrophils. Assists in neutrophil survival and stimulates phospholipase C (PLC) mediated InoP formation. |
