Cyclohexamide

Cycloheximide is a bacterial molecule that inhibits protein biosynthesis in eukaryotes by blocking tRNA binding and release from ribosomes, inducing apoptosis. Commonly used in in-vitro studies to halt protein synthesis, but has severe toxic effects in-vivo, including DNA damage, teratogenesis, and reproductive defects. Also used as a fungicide in agriculture. Inhibitor of the PPIase hFKBP12 (Ki=3.4uM).
