Erythropoietin human

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a glycoprotein renal hormone responsible for promoting erythropoiesis, formation of red blood cells by bone marrow. Oxygen scarcity or bleeding stimulate release of EPO. It can be used to test for and treat certain blood conditions like anemia, and has been misused by athletes as a performance-enhancer.

Cells were plated in a 384-well plate and incubated overnight at 37°C/5% CO2 to allow the cells to attach and grow. Cells were then stimulated with a control agonist, using the assay conditions described below. Following stimulation, signal was detected using the PathHunter Detection Kit according to the recommended protocol.
