Background Information: | Camptothecin is a cytotoxic quinoline plant alkaloid that inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis by specifically inhibiting the DNA topoisomerase I enzyme. Shows great anti-tumor potential in the clinic by inducing DNA breaks and apoptosis, but shows in vivo cytotoxicity. Derivatives of camptothecin have been developed and are used in chemotherapy, such as toptecan and irinotecan. An agonist of the p53 pathway and inhibitor of TOP1. Provided as 25 mg of dry powder. |
