Background Information: | Growth Hormone Releasing Factor (GRF or GHRF) is a preproprotein produced in the hypothalamus that acts on the adenohypophyses to stimulate growth hormone secretion from the pituitary gland. This activity may stimulate tumor growth. GRF levels are regulated by somatostatin, growth hormone, and insulin-like growth factor 1. GRF acts as an agonist for GHRHR.
