Functions to support sympathetic neuron survival, and may be involved in the development and maintenance of the CNS as well as the control of the hemopoietic cell population. Has been tested in clinical trials for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases like Huntington's and Parkinson's disease. Acts as an agonist for c-Ret.
