Background Information: | CXCL8, aka IL-8, is a cytokine protein produced by macrophages and other cells such as epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and airway myocytes. IL-8 is able to induce chemotaxis in neutrophils and granulocytes, attracting them to the site of damage or infection. IL-8 can also induce phagocytosis of foreign debris, and is known to be a potent promoter of angiogenesis. It is an agonist for CXCR1 and CXCR2, with more affinity for the former. Provided as 5 μg of dry powder alongside reconstitution buffer. |
