Background Information: | Relaxin-2 is a protein hormone structurally similar to insulin, and is the only relaxin that circulates in the blood. Binds specifically to the receptors RXFP1 (LGR7) and RXFP2 (LGR8). Plays an important role in female reproduction, and may have a role in enhancing sperm motility, regulating blood pressure, controlling heart rate, and releasing oxytocin and vasopressin.
