Biological Information
Background Information:
TAO3 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that activates the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade but inhibits the basal activity of the MAPK8/JNK cascade. The encoded protein is a member of the GCK subfamily of STE20-like kinases. In response to DNA damage, TAO3 is involved in the G2/M transition DNA damage checkpoint by activating the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade, probably by mediating phosphorylation of upstream MAP2K3 and MAP2K6 kinases. GenBank NM_016281. The recombinant protein contains the amino acid substitution N47S with reference to NM-016281. This mutation is reported in GenBank BC002756 and BC7007185
