Background Information: | Tyramine is a naturally occurring monoamine derivative of tyrosine that acts as a catecholamine releasing agent and agonist of TAAR1. Has non-psychoactive peripheral sympathomimetic effects, and can lead to a hypertensive crisis if foods rich in tyramine are ingested in conjunction with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Occurs widely in foods as a result of fermentation or decay via tyrosine decarboxylation. Provided as 10 mg of dry powder. |
