Biological Information
Background Information:
ICK (intestinal cell kinase) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is primarily expressed in the intestinal epithelium, where it plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation. ICK has been shown to be involved in the regulation of Wnt signaling, which is a critical pathway for the development and homeostasis of the intestinal epithelium. Research has suggested that ICK may also play a role in the development and progression of cancer. ICK has been shown to be overexpressed in several types of cancer, including colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, and high levels of ICK expression have been associated with poor prognosis. Additionally, ICK has been suggested as a potential therapeutic target in cancer, and efforts to develop small-molecule inhibitors of the kinase are underway.
